Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam is looking for a Programme Manager with a focus on international projects (32 hours).

Nieuwe Instituut is the national museum and institute for architecture, design and digital culture. It is a public institution that manages the National Collection for Architecture and Urbanism, creates and programs exhibitions, organizes workshops and talks, initiates research, supports and advises designers, and realizes international projects.

Agency

Nieuwe Instituut functions within a regional, national and international network within which it constantly seeks new connections and opportunities for exchange. Agency is the department within the institute specifically responsible for the support program for designers. The focus of this program is on talent development, internationalization and design and digital cultural archives. Agency's approach focuses on creating encounters, collaboration and exchange between designers based in the Netherlands and local, national and international contexts. The program gives designers a platform and visibility, it contributes to their development, and it provides new knowledge and insights for addressing urgent social issues.

Programme manager

For the programs focused on internationalization, the Agency team - consisting of 6 programme managers - is looking for a programme manager who can develop and coordinate large and small international projects, exhibitions and exchanges. Think of the Salone del Mobile, the London Design Biennale or the Venice Biennale, but also a cultural program around the Buchmesse in Leipzig or a European collaboration. The program manager always works in teams with curators, designers, researchers, cultural organizations and embassies, among others, and plays a connecting role within these teams.

We are looking for a substantive, committed and enterprising person who works well in teams, who enjoys making connections between people, organizations and themes, with knowledge of the design field, with an antenna for what is going on in the world and with ideas for developing programs around it. We expect a strategic working and thinking level, with a hands-on mentality and good organizational and financial skills. All employees are expected to implement the principle of multi-voicedness in their work, both socially and ecologically. Dutch as a spoken language is not a requirement, but a good command of English, both spoken and written, is.
